I have been a musician for longer than I care to remember. A 70's teenager, my first
heroes were the heavy blues rock bands of the era - Rory Gallagher, Led Zep, Jethro
Tull, Pink Floyd etc, but as I learned the guitar I started with the elegant picking
of people such as Paul Simon, Ralph McTell, Big Bill Broonzy. All parts of my Dad’s
record collection, which also included “Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison” - a key influence.
My main instrument is the guitar, and I try to play most styles but I suppose the
basis of my technique is fok, blues, country and rock styles- rhythm, lead, slide,
dobro, bottleneck, fingerstyle etc. I also love to play the blues harmonica. I love
to sing and the greatest fun is to harmonise with someone else.
My heroes are those who have a broad pallet and make it work - Richard Thompson,
Lowell George, Rory Gallagher They didn't put boundaries around what they did or
do, and I try not to either.
